Cadillac Fleetwood Base

The Cadillac Fleetwood Base is a full-size luxury car that was made by General Motors’s Cadillac division from 1976 to 1996. Before 1956, when it became part of the Cadillac line for good, the name “Fleetwood” was used for several different models. Before, the name “Fleetwood” was used as a prefix on several Cadillac models as early as 1935. Cadillac’s more common Series 62 and Deville models had shorter wheelbases than the four-door Fleetwood.

History Of Cadillac Fleetwood

The rear wheels drove all Fleetwood series buses up until 1984. Between 1985 and 1992, the name Fleetwood was used on new cars with front-wheel drive that was almost the same as the Deville at the same time. The old RWD Fleetwood was also made until 1992. Before 1987, it was called the Fleetwood Brougham; after that, it was just called the Brougham.

In 1987, a version of the front-wheel-drive model with a longer wheelbase was added to the lineup. It was called the Fleetwood 60 Special, a name that had been used for the last time on the 1970 Fleetwood. A new Fleetwood with rear-wheel drive came out in 1993 and was made in 1996.

Before 1934, you could order the bodies for all Cadillac models from the General Motors Fleetwood coachbuilding operation in Fleetwood, Pennsylvania. There, buses with the name Fleetwood were put together from 1935 to 1941.

From 1957 to 1959, the Fleetwood was part of the Cadillac Oldsmobile series. After that, it became their own series. From 1976 to 1986, the Fleetwood Brougham was made, and it was one of the most expensive cars on the market. It came back as the Cadillac Fleetwood Broughamd’Elegance in the year 1991.

The Cadillac Fleetwood was taken off the market in 1996, and the Cadillac DeVille took its place. Before 1934, you could order the bodies for all Cadillac models from the General Motors Fleetwood coachbuilding operation in Fleetwood, Pennsylvania. From 1935 to 1941, buses with the name Fleetwood were made there.
