This black Mercedes-Benz GL 320 CDI, listed as a 2010, went up in Prince Albert, SK in February 2026 at C$5,000 and was still listed in late October. The seller is blunt about why it is cheap: someone cracked the windshield in two places while it was parked outside a 7-Eleven, stole the hood star, and one tire needs replacing. The ad says the engine and transmission have nothing wrong with them and that the seller bought it for C$8,500 the previous fall.

What it is

The GL 320 CDI is the diesel version of the three-row GL-Class, with the 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel and four-wheel drive. This one is black with black leather and wood trim, and the photos show a straight body and a tidy cabin with the factory navigation screen. The badge on the tailgate reads GL 320 CDI, which in Canada was the 2007 to 2009 naming, so we would check the model year on the registration before buying.

What the seller discloses:

  • Windshield cracked in two places and needs replacing
  • Front Mercedes emblem stolen
  • One tire needs replacing eventually
  • Leather, four-wheel drive, turbodiesel
  • Mileage given as 180 kms, which we read as about 180,000 km
  • Open to offers but nothing under C$4,000

The seller says it still drives, that they want a truck instead, and that it is a few easy fixes from being a good daily driver. The photos were taken at dusk on a quiet street and the GL looks presentable in them.

Why this car matters

A GL 320 CDI is the pre-urea version of the diesel GL, which is the one most mechanics prefer because there is no AdBlue tank, no AdBlue heater and no NOx sensors to fail. Mercedes built far fewer diesel GLs than gas GL 450s, and the ones in Saskatchewan can be counted on your hands. The engine is the 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel with 398 lb-ft of torque, so this is a seven-seat, seven-thousand-pound-towing, leather-and-navigation German SUV for the price of a used Civic. What makes it cool is the gap between what it was and what it costs. These were well over a hundred thousand dollars new in Canada, and the cracked windshield is why this one is five.

Is C$5,000 a fair ask?

For a running, driving diesel GL with leather and navigation, five thousand dollars is cheap, and the seller has already said four thousand is the floor. What hurts the ask is obvious: a windshield on a GL is a few hundred dollars, a hood star is cheap, a tire is cheap, but none of that is why the truck is this price. The missing piece is any service history on an engine that needs its oil cooler seals and injector seals done at some point, and an air suspension that will eventually need compressors or struts. Budget for the known jobs, and the ask is fair. Buy it expecting only the windshield, and it will surprise you.

A little GL-Class history

The first-generation GL (X164) was built from 2007 to 2012 and was the first full-size three-row SUV Mercedes sold in North America. The diesel was badged GL 320 CDI for 2007 to 2009 in Canada, then GL 350 BlueTEC, with the same 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel and 7-speed automatic throughout.
