This silver 2005 Mercedes-Benz E320 CDI was listed privately in Surrey, BC in September 2026 at C$6,700 and was still up in late October. The mileage is the headline: 382,261 km. The seller says the car has no issues, runs very well, has no oil or coolant leaks, and is only being sold because they moved to a newer model. We are keeping the record because the E320 CDI is the diesel E-Class that mechanics tell people to buy, and this one shows how far the engine goes.

What it is

The 2005 and 2006 E320 CDI is the W211 E-Class with the 3.2-litre OM648 inline-six turbodiesel and a 5-speed automatic. It is the engine before the V6 and before diesel particulate filters, which makes it the simplest modern Mercedes diesel sold in Canada. This one is silver over black leather with wood trim, navigation and AMG-style alloy wheels.

What the seller says:

  • Well taken care of, no issues, runs very good
  • 3.2-litre inline-six turbodiesel with the 5-speed automatic
  • No oil or coolant leaks
  • Selling because the owner upgraded to a newer model

The photos show a straight body, a clean engine bay and a cabin with the leather and wood intact. The wheels are an AMG-style design, and the trunk shot shows the factory cargo net still in place.

Why this car matters

The OM648 inline-six in the E320 CDI is the engine Mercedes used to set endurance records. In 2005 three E320 CDIs ran 100,000 miles each at the Laredo test track in Texas, averaging more than 224 km/h for a month without stopping for anything but fuel, tires and drivers. That record was set with this exact engine and transmission. It makes 201 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, runs to 100 km/h in under seven seconds and will return highway fuel economy in the high 30s miles per gallon. Mercedes sold it in Canada for only two years, 2005 and 2006, with no particulate filter and no AdBlue, before the V6 BlueTEC replaced it. It was also the last straight-six diesel Mercedes built for more than a decade. What makes this one cool is that it has 382,000 km on it and is still being sold as a car with no issues. That is the engine doing exactly what it was built to do.

Is C$6,700 a fair ask?

The mileage would scare most buyers off a gas car, but the OM648 is known for going well past this with routine care, so the question is the rest of the car. What supports the price is the clean presentation, the claim of no leaks and the fact that these are the last E-Class diesels without a particulate filter. What hurts it is that 382,000 km means the suspension, the airmatic if fitted, the SBC brake unit on this year and the transmission have all seen a lot of use, and the ad says nothing about any of that. For a buyer who wants the engine and plans to keep it, the ask is reasonable. As a flip, it is not.

A little E320 CDI history

Mercedes sold the W211 E320 CDI in Canada for 2005 and 2006 only, with the OM648 inline-six making 201 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. For 2007 it was replaced by the E320 BlueTEC with the OM642 V6 and a particulate filter. The inline-six cars are generally considered the more durable of the two.
