We spotted this 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT coupe on Cars.com in July 2023. A dealer had it listed for $9,495 with only 36,000 miles and one previous owner. The ad is gone, but we keep the record here. Grand Ams were everywhere once, and clean low-mileage ones are now hard to find, so a real asking price is useful.
What this car was
An Arctic White two-door GT with chrome five-spoke wheels, a rear spoiler and the GT’s body cladding. The dealer photos show straight panels and no obvious damage. Even the fog lights and the plastic lower trim, which often fade on these cars, still look dark and even.
Inside, the seats were dark gray cloth, and the car had a sunroof. The front and rear seats look clean in the photos, with no visible tears.

Was $9,495 a fair ask?
It was on the high side for a Grand Am, which is usually a cheap used car. The low mileage, single owner and clean interior are what justified a dealer price this close to $10,000. A buyer who just wanted transport could find a higher-mileage Grand Am for far less. A buyer who wanted the cleanest one around had a case for paying close to the ask.
A little Grand Am history
Pontiac redesigned the Grand Am for 1999, and this car is from the second year of that generation. Coupes and sedans were offered, and the GT was the sporty top trim with the 3.4-liter V6 as standard. The Grand Am was one of Pontiac’s best sellers. It ended after 2005 and was replaced by the G6. Most were used hard as daily drivers, which is why a clean one with low miles stands out today.
